A former Ugandan Olympian has been fatally stabbed in Kenya.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Benjamin Kiplagat, a long-distance runner, was found with stab wounds inside his brother’s car on Sunday morning on the outskirts of Eldoret, a town located 163 miles west of Nairobi, a local official said.<\/p>\n

“This was murder, but we do not know the motive for now,” Stephen Okal, police commander from the nearby Moiben area, said.<\/p>\n

The three-time Olympian<\/strong> specialised in the 3,000-metre steeplechase and reached the semi-finals of the 2012 London Olympics.<\/p>\n

He also represented Uganda at the 2008 and 2016 Games and six World Athletics Championships.<\/p>\n

Athletics Kenya<\/strong> official Barnabas Korir paid tribute to the athlete, saying: “We urge the police to speed up investigations and… book his killers.”<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
