\u201cIt\u2019s not a mainstream position any more,\u201d says Jon Alterman, director of the Middle East programme at the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington, DC.<\/p>\n
Alterman tells host Steve Clemons that Hamas\u2019s surprise attack on Israel, and Israel\u2019s continuing destruction of the Gaza Strip, will force major changes in the political leadership of Palestinians and Israelis.<\/p>\n
There will be no progress unless Israel makes way for a solution \u201cthat gives dignity and some sense of self-determination to the Palestinians,\u201d says Alterman.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
