A large fire has engulfed two residential buildings in Valencia in eastern Spain – with people seen trapped on balconies waiting to be rescued.<\/p>\n

Officials said at least 13 people, including six firefighters, had suffered burns, fractures and smoke inhalation.<\/p>\n

There have so far been no reports of any deaths.<\/p>\n

The city centre blaze started early on Thursday evening and spread from a block of flats to a small building next door, said Spanish news agency Efe.<\/p>\n

Thick back smoke poured from the buildings and social media images appeared to show people stuck on balconies.<\/p>\n

Soldiers from an emergency unit were on the scene alongside firefighters, and medics set up a tent to treat the injured.<\/p>\n

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez said he was “shocked by the terrible fire” and the city would get “all the help that is necessary”.<\/p>\n

“I want to convey my solidarity to all the people affected and recognition to all the emergency personnel already deployed at the scene,” Mr Sanchez posted on X.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
